Lets say that you are a member of a on NMCS user group and you want all of your incoming email from the NMCS users group to go to a folder that you created called NMCS. The way that you would do that is first click on Tools on the top of Outlook Express then click on Message Rules then click on Mail
. When the next window pops up you will need to make two desisions
1"Select the Condtions For Your Rule" and 2 "Select the Action for your rule"
For the sake of this lession in the select a Condtion field check the " Where the From line containes people" and in the "Select the Action for your rule" check the "Move it to the specified folder."
Then click in the thrid field where you will see "Rule description (click on an underlined value to edit it) select the "Where the From line containes people"
to edit. Then a new window will open and here make sure that the informantion that you enter is correct because if not it will not work
. So just type in "[NMCS]" then click "Add" now all email that comes in with "[NMCS]" in the from line will be sent to the folder that we will specifie next. Now click on the "OK" button which willl take you back to the New mail rule window then click on the "Move it to the specified folder" and when the next window opens here again just type in the name of the folder that you want the mail to go to.
That is all there is to setting up filters in Outlook Express. With these filters you can delete mail that has words in the subject like morage, sex or any other word or phrase that you want. But, her again I need to add a word of caution some of your friends or family may send you an email with one of the key words in the subject and it will go to the deleted folder. So check your delete folder before you dump it because it may have something that you need to keep.
